I am an independent cartographer, writer, and activist whose work focuses on humanitarian aid in the Sonoran Desert and water rights in Michigan. I volunteer with Ajo Samaritans, volunteer search and rescue groups in Arizona and Waawiyatanong Water Protector Network. My cartographic practice has led towards learning to honor and center Indigenous languages and ways of navigating and traveling with the land, and to commit to building connections between north and south “borders” through care for land and water.
My current projects focus on Detroit's buried creeks and Sonoran Desert Journeys. In mapping Detroit's creek I am using an embodied mapping practice. One of the goal of this project is to learn to navigate my home city from an orientation around water rather than roads.
